Is Weft free for content creators?

Completely. It runs in your browser on your own machine — no subscription, no watermark, no export limit, no account. There’s no server to pay for.

What kind of content can I make with it?

Anything built on a screen recording with you in it: tutorials, product demos, course lessons, code-alongs, client updates, talking-head explainers. Record it, cut the dead air, caption it, export it.

Can I add captions, a logo, or blur?

Yes — text callouts, image layers for your logo or an arrow, blur boxes to hide emails, tokens, and client names, and highlight boxes to draw the eye. Each layer has its own timing and is dragged into place on the preview.

Can Weft export vertical video for Reels, Shorts, or TikTok?

Yes. Export to 9:16 for Reels, TikTok, and Shorts, 4:5 for the Instagram feed, 1:1 for square posts, or 16:9 for YouTube and LinkedIn. You choose how the recording fills the frame: crop to fill and pan to the part that matters, fit the whole frame with clean bars, or fit it over a blurred backdrop.

Does Weft upload my videos anywhere?

No. There is no backend. Recording, editing, encoding, and saving all happen locally, and finished MP4s are written straight into a folder you choose. Nothing is transmitted, so there’s nothing to leak or expire.

Which browsers does it work in?

Chrome and Edge get the full experience — saving into your folder and the floating controls. Other browsers can still record; finished files arrive as downloads instead.

How is Weft different from Loom?

Loom uploads to its cloud and hands you share links behind an account, with limits on the free tier. Weft hands you the raw MP4 — unlimited, unwatermarked — plus an editor, but no hosting. Need hosted links? Use a cloud tool. Want the file, to post wherever you like? That’s Weft.
